Oxi-Tech receives prestigious award for POd

Oxi-Tech’s Pulse Oxidation for Dairy (POd) was awarded Highly Commended in UK Dairy Day’s New Product Competition at the event, staged at Telford International Centre this week.

The judges, sponsor IDEXX’s Danuta Radzio and Owen Atkinson of the Dairy Veterinary Consultancy made their assessment on the fact POd reduces a dairy farm’s chemical usage, is sustainable and eco-friendly, and it has also been proven outside the livestock industry.

In addition, they were impressed by Oxi-Tech’s collaborations within the dairy AMS sector to bring this technology to the UK dairy market together with the company’s clear vision to reduce C footprint and farmer labour-saving.

“We were thrilled for POd to be recognised amongst a large number of entries for UK Dairy Day’s prestigious award,” comments Oxi-Tech CEO, Paul Morris. “We were inundated with enquires for POd throughout the event from farmers eager to find out more about the system and how it uses just cold water and low voltage electricity to create a clean and powerful disinfectant killing bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa, and providing a more effective disinfection treatment than hypochlorite or peracetic acid.”
He adds: “Compared with conventional treatments for an automated milking system, POd is 50 times more efficient in energy usage than conventional treatment and has been shown to reduce disinfection and cleaning costs by as much as 86%*, eliminates handling harmful chemicals and chemical container disposal, and is both environmentally and operator safe. The system also lowers the Carbon footprint of farms and contributes to a dairy unit’s Net Zero initiatives. POd is easy to install and operate and requires minimal backup.”
